I think it must have been aimed at OCD people who hate germs. There might be a tiny niche market there.
It's a pity they never demonstrate how it works - that woulda been fun to see. I'm not sure they coulda made using this look more ergonomic and easier for people with mobility issues... looks pretty awkward.

From the people in the ad, and the ad itself, it seems like it should be a parody; but then culture is a parody of itself these days.
I pity whoever had to write the advertising copy on that. "Right. How do we make this seem like a good idea?" BLANK LOOKS.
